Most people who go off-roading with a VW van take a Doka, but thanks to the fact that its weight is over the driven wheels, the classic microbus is also a semi-popular off-roader. This is neither.
Mastermilo82, the—I wanna say Dutch?—madman who built the world’s shortest Golf*, is back with this Nissan Patrol disguised as a VW.
It’s weird, it’s fun, and it gets stuck a bunch the hallmarks—I’m told—of a successful day of off-roading.
The car is actually interesting for a number of reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is that it shows you just how far forward cab-forward designs put you. With the guts of a Patrol, the driver of this T2 is nearly in the third row. It’s kind of wild how much space engines take up in a front-engine car.
Then the video ends with some solid two-wheel-drive Goff-roading action.
