Sales rose again in October, as Volkswagen’s US wing outsold itself by 11.9%. Selling a total of 27,732 cars in October 2017, as compared to last October’s 24,779, VW is progressing positively in the States.
October’s total, moves the tally for the year up to 280,188 cars for 2017, so far. That’s nearly 9.5% better than the brand was doing at this point last year.
The improvements come down largely to its new SUVs (the Tiguan and the Atlas), which combined for sales of more than 7,500 cars in October—sales that weren’t there at all last year.
The Jetta, too, improved over last year’s numbers. Last month, it was up 14% and, as a result, is performing 2.5% better this year than it last year.
Many of the brand’s other models struggled, though. Sales of the Beetle, the Passat, the CC, and the Tiguan all dropped this month. Even the Golf’s sales figures took a hit in October, dropping by 8.6%.
Fortunately, sales of the Golf and the Beetle have been strong enough this year to make the year-to-date numbers improve (by 30.1% and 4.7%, respectively). Sales of the Passat, CC, and Tiguan are all down for the year, though.
Still, with the new products still pushing sales, and more new models to come, things are headed in the right direction.
