The German automotive industry is looking strong this year with record production expected, but things are only expected to get better.
Thanks to strong demand in China and India, the VDA carmakers’ lobby expects growth to remain strong in Germany into 2018.
The Volkswagen Group, Daimler, and BMW are all expected to increase output to between 5.6 and 5.7 million units in Germany next year, and to 10.8 million in the rest of the world, according to Matthias Wissman, the VDA’s president.
“The automotive sector is and will remain a growth market,” Wissmann told an industry conference Tuesday. “Current projections indicate that 2018 will also be a stable year.”
