VW Celebrates GTI with Third 40 Years of Fun Video

The third in Volkswagen’s ongoing “40 Years of Fun” series, celebrating the 40^th anniversary of the GTI, was just released and this time around the video focuses more on modern GTIs.

As always, the video focuses on a couple of GTI enthusiasts who are getting their cars ready for Worthersee Treffen, the largest Volkswagen show in the Europe.

Whereas the last videos focused more on older Golfs, this one features later model Golfs more prominently. As a result, stance is also a bigger player in this video. As one of the enthusiasts, Andreas, says in the video “Reducing the ground clearance is essential.”

The video also focuses on the legend of the GTI. The featured drivers talk about when they first saw the GTI, about the look, and the sound. “It’s a legend,” Andreas concludes. “It’s one of the most famous and widely driven cars […] It’s pretty much the only car for me.”

I’ve never really been one for SUVs and crossovers. The current offerings aren’t the body-on-frame, go-anywhere specialty tools I remember from my youth, and what they lack in capability, they also lack in on-road performance.
