VW Confirms 306 HP Golf GTI Clubsport S

Volkswagen has just confirmed that it will, in fact, be building the most powerful full-production Golf to date, the GTI Clubsport S. The manufacturer isn’t revealing much before the car’s official debut on May 4 at Wörthersee, but they have confirmed that it will have 310 PS (306 hp).

VW has also said that the Clubsport S is being set up for the Nürburgring, where it was spied testing late last week. Although they haven’t said anything about setting any records, a time of less than 7:54.3 would give them the record for production FWD cars that is currently held by a considerably less powerful Renault.

Speculation abounds, and some commentators are suggesting that the car will also go on a crash diet, losing equipment like the air conditioning, while also using lightweight materials. A unique suspension and damper set up is also expected, since this will be a track-focused car.

It’s also being reported that the car will be limited to 5,000 examples, and will use a tuned version of the 2.0L four-cylinder turbo from the standard GTI, that normally only makes 217 hp.

The Golf GTI Clubsport S is set to go on sale this fall.

T-Prime Makes World Premiere at Beijing

With the new T-Prime Concept GTE that was revealed today, the company is showing off all of the technology you can look for in its coming models. The T-Prime is a full-size hybrid SUV that can go up to 31 miles on a charge and gets 87 mpg. The hybrid power station is good for 375 hp and 516 lb/ft of torque and puts the power down with 4MOTION all wheel drive. It’ll get you up to 60 in six seconds. The concept’s real party piece, though, is its interior, which features exclusively touch, gesture, and voice controls. Audi Teases the e-tron’s Headlights Ahead of LA Reveal

Audi will unveil its new electric car, the e-tron GT, in just a few short days, but until then, it will do what manufacturers can’t help but do and will tease it mercilessly. The latest teaser images first appeared on Germany’s Bild , and feature some of the EV’s lighting. While the taillights look reasonably familiar, albeit on an interesting, angular surface, the headlights feature a heretofore unseen light shape.
