In a bid to prove that Volkswagens can fulfill every need in every market, DMK Motoring has set out to make a MkI Golf that can outmuscle any muscle car. The tuners from Münster just released this video of their car on the dyno making more than 800 hp (815 ps) at the wheels.
Although the power is being routed to the front wheels for the dyno run, the Golf normally sends the power from its 2.0-liter 16V four cylinder Garrett GTX42 turbocharged engine to all four wheels.
The car also has flared wheel arches, custom exhaust, and bigger wheels. All in all it looks really good, not that it has to be. Going fast is looking good.
Sensibly, the tuners have fitted the Golf with a roll cage and modified the dashboard with digital screens. Weight has been shaved off the doors, because you might not feel 800 hp with all the weight that MkI Golfs carry.
Building a car like this one, says BBM, who helped with the car, would set you back between $70,000 and $90,000.
The monster from Münster proves that there is no segment in which VW does not participate. On road or off, there’s one for everyone, because VW is life.
