Golf GTI TCR Fastest in ADAC TCR Test

It was a successful introduction for Banjamin Leuchter and his bright red Golf GTI TCR. Together they blitzed the fifth test session for the new ADAC touring car series, crossing the line with the fastest time at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

Leuchter set consistently fast times over the two days of testing, but on Wednesday afternoon, he proved unbeatable. “I am already totally in the TCR season,” says Leuchter. “I’m really eager to go racing again.”

The grid this year will be made up 22 cars, five of which will be Golf GTI TCRs. As well as Leuchter, racing under the Racing One banner, there will be Kai Jordan racing for JBR Motorsport; and Daniel Conrad, Tim Zimmermann and Tom Lautenschlager, all racing for Liqui Moly Team Engstler.

Martin Kohlhaas, Racing One boss, says “Our tests have been very good, we are very satisfied with the times.” He goes on to say that the team’s goal is to finish in the top five every race.

The real racing will start on April 15^th at the same track, Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

I’ve never really been one for SUVs and crossovers. The current offerings aren’t the body-on-frame, go-anywhere specialty tools I remember from my youth, and what they lack in capability, they also lack in on-road performance.
