Remember AUTObiography? We’re Bringing it Back.

In the past few months VWvortex has gone through quite a few changes, some of them you’ve noticed, some of them you likely haven’t. One that you’ve definitely seen was the addition of Sebastien Bell to help with the day-to-day blog population. With him quickly coming up to speed, my own schedule has opened up a bit to knock out a few tasks I’ve been meaning to for quite some time. The first of those is to bring back our reoccurring AUTObiography feature.

Longtime readers will certainly remember this as popular feature that put VWvortex users and their cars on the front page, where they belong. But since Steve Jobs was still alive last time we did one, we won’t hold it against you if the details are a bit hazy.

In theory, it’s really quite simple- follow this link to the Volkswagen Lounge forum, copy the updated questionnaire, fill it out and paste it into an email to wbarber@verticalscope.com with a few images attached. From there, we’ll put your car in line and get it on the front page.

We’ll kick this thing off next week, so don’t hesitate to get your submissions in. If you’ve got any questions, please respond to the thread linked here.

ItalDesign is drumming up excitement for its new supercar based around the same 5.2-liter Audi V10 that powers the R8. Naturally, it hit the road for a cruise around California last week to celebrate Monterey Car Week. There isn’t much in the way of V10 noise—which is a real shame given the sound it makes—but you do at least get a good look at the car inside and out in this video. With a body made entirely of carbon fiber and designed to be as aerodynamic and light as possible, ItalDesign figures that it will be good for a 0-60 time of just 3.2 seconds. “We put it our best skills into the production of the first car,” said Massimo Bovi, head of pre-series production, when the Zerouno was first unveiled in Geneva earlier this year. “Using some of the finest productions methods and engaging our high-skilled workers.” The car features clever aero tricks gleaned from single-seat racing, like a y-duct up front to improve downforce and turn-in.
