H&R puts the spotlight on the world’s strongest “coati”

Those who will visit Techno-Classica in Essen, Germany in a few days should not miss to visit the H&R booth in Hall 3, where the suspension specialist celebrates a world premiere of a very special classic car: it is the strongest “coati” of the world that the H&R partner TH Automobile from Berlin developed. Car enthusiasts will be thrilled: At first glance, it is an iconic VW 411 (Type 4) Variant with its charismatic front that inspired the nickname “Nasenbär” (coati) – Volkswagen’s first mid-size saloon car, initial registration in 1973. Nicely restored with its minimalist interior and the characteristic steering wheel in original look. But wait! At second glance, the sporty suspension and the 18-inch “Fuchs wheels” – usually a distinctive mark of the Porsche 911 – catch the eye.

When looking into the engine bay, at the latest, fans of originality will be indignant: the classical VW 411 face hides the technology of a Porsche 997 Turbo that is hardly classic car number plate compliant. Instead of a 1.7-litre boxer engine with 85 hp, the body specially developed by TH Automobile (www.thautomobile.de) houses a water-cooled 480-hp turbo unit with six-speed gearbox, Porsche Turbo brake system, power steering, double wishbone suspension in the front and multi-link suspension in the back. And the tailor-made TÜV-approved H&R coil over holds the vehicle on the track – a masterpiece of car individualisation technically realised in a unique way. That much is for sure: the exhibition vehicle at the H&R booth will stir up the classic car enthusiasts’ blood – clear the ring for the discussion on originality and the vehicle as historic cultural asset!

By the way: suspension specialist H&R can also do “original” – fair visitors can convince themselves of this at the booth in Hall 3 – no matter whether it is about young classic cars, classic cars or the individualisation of sporty new vehicles.
