Porsche Cars North America Reports May 2015 Sales

Porsche Cars North America has reported a slight decrease in overall sales when compared to the same period in 2014.  While total sales are still roughly 2,000 units higher than they were at this time last year, May saw a downturn in sales numbers of all models except for the Cayenne.  With no new models on the horizon aside from the extremely limited production Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder, Porsche hopes that this will be just a small hiccup in an otherwise successful year.

U.S. Porsche dealers sell 4,268 vehicles in May

Atlanta. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor in the United States of Porsche 918 Spyder, 911, Boxster and Cayman sports cars, Macan and Cayenne SUVs, and the Panamera four-door sports sedan line-up, today announced May 2015 sales of 4,268 vehicles.

The Cayenne model line experienced another strong month in May, with 1,392 units sold, an increase of 7.6 percent compared to May 2014. Year-to-date, 20,915 Porsche vehicles have been delivered, up 11.1 percent compared year-over-year to 2014.

Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales in the United States were 1,355 for May 2015, up 36.5 percent compared to May 2014. This is the strongest sales month since the inception of the Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned program.

More 3.0-Liter TDI Settlement Details Expected by January 31

Volkswagen and the TDI Plaintiff’s Steering Committee were in court today for another status conference following the agreement in principal reached earlier this week. Little new information was given at the conference held before Judge Charles Breyer today, but the court ordered the parties to develop a formal settlement agreement, class action notices, and a class notice plan by January 31, 2017. For now, though, owners still don’t know how much to expect in compensation. Elizabeth Cabraser, lead Counsel for the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee reaffirmed in a statement today that the compensation would be “substantial.” The potential cost to Volkswagen is widely reported to exceed $1 billion, though, with an additional $225 million going into an environmental trust to help offset excess emissions.
