Now Hiring: Volkswagen Motorsport Looking for ‘Performance Data Engineer’

Do you have a Mechanical or Automotive Engineering degree and a keen eye for data analysis?  If so, Volkswagen Motorsport just might be looking for you.

In a tweet this morning, Volkswagen Motorsport posted a job listing for a new ‘Performance Data Engineer’ to join their ever-expanding team.  This extremely fortunate individual would follow Volkswagen Motorsport around the world to act as a data engineer during tests, rally, and other events, and be responsible for telling other specialized teams how they can make racecars faster.  Seems like a bit of a dream job, doesn’t it?

Volkswagen Motorsport says the ideal candidate will have a degree in the fields mentioned above, be fluent in both German and English, and a high level of technical knowledge among other things.  May the best person win.

PZM 73rd Rally Poland Kicks Off

The WRC is in Poland and after only one stage there are three Volkswagens in the top five. Today’s special stage at the Mikolajki Arena is the first stage, but the rally doesn’t begin in earnest until Friday. Today’s super special stage was less than two minutes long, and less than a second separates the top five drivers. Hyundai Motorsport’s Thierry Neuville tops the charts today, followed closely by Volkswagen’s Andreas Mikkelsen. Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala are in fourth and fifth, respectively. Expect Ogier to climb the rankings, though. Not only did he win the rally last year, he has won every year since 2013.
