Find of the Day: Volkswagen Golf Rallye SE

European versions of eBay are just so much more fun than ours, aren’t they?  Especially when you’ve got an importation guy willing to make your dream a reality, so long as that dream is at least 25 years old.  Luckily today’s find fits that mold perfectly, even coming with a set of yet to be installed BBS RM wheels.

Originally registered in 1990, this Golf Rallye SE features electric Recaro seats, power windows, and looks to be in very good shape overall having covered just 110,000 miles.  Those concerned with speed will take comfort in the car’s aftermarket supercharger bolted to an engine that has been rebuilt by TSR Racing, with displacement bumped from 1.8 to 2 liters.  The seller says that the car produces roughly 230hp, which should be enough to get the relatively lightweight car up to speed while remaining reliable and drivable in everyday situations.

I’ve never really been one for SUVs and crossovers.  The current offerings aren’t the body-on-frame, go-anywhere specialty tools I remember from my youth, and what they lack in capability, they also lack in on-road performance.
