Volkswagen Brand Magazine Wins Two Gold Trophies at “Best of Corporate Publishing” Competition

Great success for Volkswagen’s Das Auto Magazine at this year’s renowned “Best of Corporate Publishing” competition, where the brand magazine took home two Gold and two Silver medals. This is Volkswagen’s most successful year ever in the competition.  The two Gold awards went to the video “Roads to Freedom,” about the car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and the mobile app of Das Auto Magazine.

“We are particularly pleased about this honor, because Das Auto Magazine operates on an ambitious global magazine platform, featuring the highest quality standards for storytelling and format diversity,” Anders Sundt Jensen, Head of Volkswagen Marketing Communications said.

The undisputed jury favorite was “Roads to Freedom,” a video documentary about Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro which was awarded the Gold prize in the category of “International Communication.”  A second Gold award in this category went to the Das Auto Magazine mobile app.  The jury praised the brand magazine app, emphasizing in particular their multi-media integration, “Das Auto Magazine offers topics for all countries, regions and cultures, with reports, interviews, analysis and background information available.”  Das Auto also won two silver medals, one for the print version in the Automotive category, and one in the Mobile Digital Media category for the iPad app.

“Das Auto Magazine “has been published since 2012 in both German and English at http://ift.tt/1gUd9jj, and will be published in 18 languages ​​and more than 25 markets worldwide in traditional print and in the form of a mobile app. According to the magazine “Monitor CP,” “Das Auto Magazine” was ranked the premier corporate publishing medium in Germany.  In 2015, the website’s navigation, clarity, and visual design were optimized as part of a comprehensive relaunch.

Best of Corporate Publishing (BCP) is the largest competition for corporate publishing houses in Europe. BCP is (acting together with the leading industry magazines, Horizon, W & V, Werbewoche and personally) was started in 2003 by Forum Corporate Publishing, with more than 600 publications submitted annually. In 2015, a 160-member jury judged a total of 729 submissions. From those nominees, 50 Gold Award Winners were named.

More 3.0-Liter TDI Settlement Details Expected by January 31

Volkswagen and the TDI Plaintiff’s Steering Committee were in court today for another status conference following the agreement in principal reached earlier this week. Little new information was given at the conference held before Judge Charles Breyer today, but the court ordered the parties to develop a formal settlement agreement, class action notices, and a class notice plan by January 31, 2017. For now, though, owners still don’t know how much to expect in compensation. Elizabeth Cabraser, lead Counsel for the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee reaffirmed in a statement today that the compensation would be “substantial.” The potential cost to Volkswagen is widely reported to exceed $1 billion, though, with an additional $225 million going into an environmental trust to help offset excess emissions.
