Volkswagen Passat GT Concept is Here to Prove VW has Style

Volkswagen has revealed what it will show off at the 2016 LA Auto Show, the new Passat GTConcept.

Designed by VW North America, the brand says that this car reflects what the U.S. market wants. “The Passat GT is an early example of how the new Volkswagen North American Region will meet the needs and desires of American customers going forward,” said Dr. Matthias Erb, Chief Engineering Officer, North American Region.

The changes to the car itself are all aesthetic, with the exterior getting a black honeycomb grille insert, red accent lines, new bumper treatments, black window surrounds, a black roof and trunk spoiler, LED headlights, smoked taillights, a dual exhaust and a sport muffler. Ride height has also been dropped by 0.6-inches, while the car rides on 19-inch Tornado wheels.

Inside, the GT Concept has also been stylized with the addition of carbon-fiber door trim, two-tone black and gray sport seats, piano black trim and a black headliner.

Under the hood is VW’s 3.6-liter VR6 engine making 280 horsepower, sending its power through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Though Volkswagen calls it a concept, many of these upgrades look production ready, so don’t be surprised when a Passat GT model is rolls into showrooms.

Audi Teases A7 Details with New Video

Audi’s gearing up to unveil the latest iteration of the A7, and to get you excited they’ve released this teaser video focusing on the details. The lights, the lines, the interior are all teased here, and though on its own the video doesn’t give us a strong sense of what the whole car will look like, with all of the other details we’ve seen so far we now have a pretty good sense of what’s coming. As you might expect, the updated A7 will look broadly similar to the outgoing A7, but will differ in the details. Based on what we’ve seen, the changes look good. As was reported yesterday, we’re expecting a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine, a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo, a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, and an RS7 that could reportedly make up to 700 hp thanks to the Porsche Panamera’s hybrid drivetrain.
