Complete the Air Coooled Trifecta with this LEGO Karmann Ghia

We’ve already see LEGO kits of the Beetle and the Type 2, so naturally the next step is a LEGO Karmann Ghia.

This Ghia was made for LEGO Ideas by user Mandylion777. The site takes suggestions from regular people, and lets visitors to the site vote on which ones should make it into production.

Although trying to translate the Karmann Ghia’s curvy lines into LEGO may seem foolhardy, this kit actually looks pretty good.

Although it doesn’t have a working steering wheel, like on some kits, it does feature a removable roof, luggage, opening doors, and an opening trunk and frunk.

The kit has more than 1,300 supporters right now, but it’s far from the 10,000 it needs to be officially reviewed by LEGO.

I’ve never really been one for SUVs and crossovers. The current offerings aren’t the body-on-frame, go-anywhere specialty tools I remember from my youth, and what they lack in capability, they also lack in on-road performance.
