We Don’t Really Care About the T-Cross, But Market Trends Mean We Have to Pay Attention Anyway

An official sketch of the upcoming VW T-Cross compact crossover has been released ahead of the vehicle’s debut later this year.

The VW T-Cross will slot in beneath the subcompact T-Roc in the German automaker’s lineup. VW says the T-Cross is 4,107 mm long, which is just over 100 mm shorter than the T-Roc, which measures in a t4,237 mm. The vehicle will be offered in front-wheel drive format only and will feature standard frontal collision warning and standard lane departure warning. VW is also confident it will be one of the safest vehicles in its class when it goes on sale in Europe, China, and South America early next year.

It doesn’t seem as though VW has developed the T-Cross with the United States in mind but Chevrolet and Ford are both offering vehicles in this segment in the way of the Trax and EcoSport and consumers have responded positively, so you may eventually see something similarly sized at a dealership soon.

You can listen to Jürgen Stackmann, VW’s head of sales and marketing, and Klaus Bischoff, VW design boss, explain the new T-Cross in the video embedded above. The vehicle is set to make its debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October before going on sale in the beginning of 2019.

We’ll provide an update if VW changes its mind in regards to North American availability, but we won’t be holding our breath, just yawning.
