Volkswagen is bringing the T-Cross tiny crossover to the world, but not if you’re in the US or Canada.
The T-Cross, and we’re going to have to assume the name really does mean “tiny crossover,” is based on the VW MQB A0 platform. That’s the small version that sits under the Polo. We’re expecting it to be somewhere under 162-inches long, which means it’s a very small vehicle by North American standards. For reference, that would make it about an inch longer than the Ford EcoSport and about seven-inches shorter than the Honda HR-V. Volkswagen wants the T-Cross to have as much rear legroom and trunk space as possible, but still feels that’s too small for US and Canadian buyers.
VW small car boss Andreas Krueger told Automotive News Europe that the vehicle would be sold worldwide starting next spring. It’ll arrive in Europe, then South America, then China and finally India.
Expect to see the reveal of the T-Cross sometime later this year.
