The Urus always has been, and continues to be met with skepticism in the press: a Lamborghini SUV without L, M, 0, or 2 in the title? Seems wrong. It looks like the people who actually sell the things, though, are less skeptical.
Although the car hasn’t even actually hit dealers yet, and although few people outside Sant’Agatha Bolognese have driven it, dealers still feel that they can charge a steep premium for early examples of the car.
German publications Mobile.de and Auto Bild have found examples of German dealers charging up to €330,000 for the car, which starts a €204,000.
In freedom coins, that’s nearly $400,000 for a car that starts at a shade under $250,000 (in Europe). That amounts to a nearly 40% premium for a car that it will still take you nearly half a year to receive.
If it works out for the dealers, it will be easy to understand why Lamborghini wanted to build an SUV so badly, though this will likely spark Ford-Focus-RS-debates about dealers taking away their own sales with premiums. And sales won’t be that plentiful to begin with, since Lamborghini only plans on selling 3,500 Uruses (Uri?) in 2019.
So for now, if you need a super-fast, super-expensive SUV, but don’t necessarily need the biggest brakes ever fitted to a production car, maybe look at a Cayenne.
