Representatives from Europe’s biggest automaker have left the continent for the now-non-European soil of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and they’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of the best hot hatch of them all, the Golf GTI.
Fresh off their celebration on the banks of lake Wörthersee, VW is heading to, what is perhaps the biggest automotive festival in the world with a selection of GTIs. With them, they’re bringing a Mk1 GTI race car, the Nurburgring FWD lap record holding Golf GTI Clubsport S, and the WRC leading Polo R WRC.
The Mk1 and the Polo R will both be going up the Lord March’s now legendary driveway (read: the hill climb course) with Strietzel Stuck and Jari-Matti Latvala at the wheel.
You can watch all the action live with the Goodwood livestream on YouTube and at goodwood.com.
