Volkswagen has found a name for the production version of the BUDD-e concept that the company plans on taking to market in 2019. The microbus model will be called the e-Bulli, according to a report by German car magazine Auto Bild.
We’re not sure whether that name will stick, after all, calling your car a ‘bully’ may not go down well with North American buyers. But that’s assuming that VW will be bringing the model to the U.S. and Canada.
Volkswagen is making a big push towards electrification and plans on introducing a slate of all-electric and hybrid vehicles beginning in 2019. This is part of a strategy to clean up its image as well as taking the fight to the success in EVs that Tesla has become.
The BUDD-e concept had impressive stats, though, we still don’t have enough details about the e-Bulli to know how much of that technology will make it to production. But the BUDD-e came with a substantial range of 533 kilometers and boasted a total output of 225 kW (300 hp) coming from two electric motors situated on the front and rear axles.
