The VW microbus is synonymous with hippies. Unlike anything else on the road and totally counter-cultural, it was the perfect car for hippies and musicians.
For the band Light, it was the perfect van to carry them and their things to Woodstock. And with the 50th anniversary of the famous music festival coming up, a team of brave souls is seeking to recreate that famous microbus.

Unfortunately lost to the pages of history, the team spent months looking for the actual microbus, following leads and searching through scrap yards, but came back empty handed.
Instead, they’ve bought a similar Type 2 and are fixing it up so that Bob Hieronimous, the artist who painted the original Light tour bus, can recreate the original paint job.
