Despite being considerably larger than anything else VW has ever produced, the Atlas is basically just a Golf. And that’s good news for tuners like APR, who can just bolt Golf R parts onto it and make it better.
And that’s exactly what APR has done with this bright green Atlas. By adding its IS38 turbocharger and an ECU tune to give it 350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque (up 115 hp and 92 lb-ft over stock).
APR has also added a carbon fiber intake system, a cast exhaust system, and 6-piston 350mm performance brakes, to ensure that it doesn’t run away from you.
They also gave the Atlas a 1.5-inch bump to make it a little taller. APR did this by adding new CNC machined billet suspension components and fitting Toyo Open Country M/t 275/55R20 tires.
This one is also shod in 20×9-inch lightweight forged wheels and is wearing a custom wrap by Digital Precision.
“We were thrilled to have the opportunity to work on this project to bring the Atlas 2.0T to the next level,” said Mitch Williams, CEO of APR. “With 350 horsepower and 350-pound feet of torque we’ve surpassed the output from even the larger V6 engine and we’re working to push the envelope even further in the future. The combination of custom hardware and equipment from our current product line really transformed the Atlas’ performance.”
Unfortunately, this is just a one-off for now, but APR is insistent that they’re evaluating a lineup of performance upgrades for the Atlas in the future.
