The R32 Golf isn’t exactly the most conspicuous hot hatch on the road. Sure you might notice the center-exit exhaust and the bigger wheels, but unless you’re a VW fan, you probably don’t notice that there’s much of a difference between the Mk5 R32 and a standard Golf (or Rabbit).
That can be a big benefit if you’re making a sleeper like this one. It still has a 3.2L VR6, but that VR6 has a secret you won’t see from outside. Turbochargers. 800 hp worth of turbochargers.
The launch isn’t overly hard, but watch the car just disappear once it gets moving. That’s 161 mph in the half-mile.
