Watch: VW Teases the ID Crozz 2.0

The I.D. Crozz, an all electric crossover concept based on VW’s MEB platform, is coming back for round two at the Frankfurt motor show next week.

First shown in Shanghai, earlier this year, the Frankfurt version, being teased in a new video from VW, will look more like a production model. According to VW, the front and rear ends, in particular, are closer to those that will be seen on the production model of the I.D. Crozz.

The video doesn’t show much, but the Crozz does come in a shiny new color (so far only the Buzz has been shown in anything but white) and the headlights have some Audi-tail-light-like tricks, illuminating from the center VW logo, through a thin strip of light, and eventually onto the headlights in stages.

Volkswagen hasn’t mentioned anything about performance for the Crozz 2.0, but the original concept featured two electric motors–front and rear–that combined for 302 hp and could get the crossover up to 60 mph in just 6 seconds, according to VW’s estimates. With an 83kWh battery, the Crozz was also able to travel more than 310 miles on a charge.

This isn’t the first time that the Volkswagen Group has pulled a move like this, with Audi releasing two concept versions of the Q8 at different auto shows, the second allegedly more production-like than the first.

The I.D. Crozz is expected to be one of VW’s first electric cars to make it to market and will likely be America’s first. It is expected to reach showrooms after 2020.

PZM 73rd Rally Poland Kicks Off

The WRC is in Poland and after only one stage there are three Volkswagens in the top five. Today’s special stage at the Mikolajki Arena is the first stage, but the rally doesn’t begin in earnest until Friday. Today’s super special stage was less than two minutes long, and less than a second separates the top five drivers.
