Audi Orchestra Pays Tribute to Past Emmy Winners

Whether or not you caught last weekend’s Emmy Awards, you may want to catch Audi USA’s latest ads that pay tribute to winners from the past.

The ads feature an R8, a TT RS, and a Q5 on baritone performing some of TV history’s favorite themes. This ad shows the three playing 1977’s outstanding comedy winner, the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

The ads prove that it’s not just the ridiculously high revving F1 cars that can perform songs, but more quotidian Audis, too—sort of, the sound (gasp) has been autotuned, but if Reba McEntire can do it, so can Audi. Together with an orchestra of traditional human-powered string instruments, the song comes together in a surprisingly pleasant way.

The themes to Cheers and Star Trek are also performed, all with a remarkable fidelity. Watch all three.

Review: Saying Goodbye to the CC V6

For all its size and its global reach, Volkswagen is still, in many ways, a deeply human company. There was, for instance, the Bugatti Veyron an ego project if ever there was one. Waterfest Moves to Atco Dragway

Waterfest 24 will be held at Atco Dragway, in Atco, New Jersey. The summer event will take place at its new venue on July 21 and 22. Long held in Englishtown, New Jersey, the festival has been such a large part of the VW scene that the latest iteration of the Golf even comes with optional “Englishtown” wheels . The new venue, however, is an NHRA drag track a scant 52 miles southwest of Englishtown. The ¼ mile drag track opened in 1960, which makes it the oldest drag strip in New Jersey. The announcement came today on a social media post that announced the new location. Waterfest is North America’s largest VW/Audi show. As many 20,000 people show up for the annual show, making the second largest show in the world—with Worthersee being number one. 2018 will be Waterfest’s 24 th year in existence.
