SUVs! Have you heard? The world can’t get enough of them. Big SUVs, small SUVs, even smaller SUVs, and now, SUVs that are smaller still as VW has approved the Taigun, an Up!-based (ugh) SUV.
We now have the Atlas, the Tiguan, the T-Roc is just around the corner, and the T-Cross (a Polo-based SUV) is just around the next corner, but now Autobild reports that Wolfsburg has given the Taigun the go-ahead.
The concept was initially shown in 2014 but was nixed soon after. The problem being that the Up! doesn’t share many parts with other cars, making development expensive.
The Taigun in all likeliness won’t come to the US, though, as it’s being designed specifically for Brazil, where VW currently has nothing to compete against the Ford EcoSport.
It could arrive in 2020 under the name of T-Track powered by three cylinder engines and driven by the front wheels.
