Volkswagen of America Sales Improve Again in April

More than 27,000 new Volkswagens were purchased in America this April. That marks an improvement of 1.64% over April of 2016 and amounts to an improvement of nearly 8% for the year so far.

The golf family, the Passat, and unusually the Beetle Coupe all helped to raise the sales total with increases of 40%, 10%, and 50% respectively.

Sales of the Jetta and the Tiguan, though, fell by 12% and 22% respectively. Both are volume models for the brand, and the Jetta Sportwagen had already become the Golf Sportwagen by this point last year, so the drops aren’t good news for VW.

With more than 103,000 cars sold so far this year, though, an increase of nearly 8% is welcome news. And with a new model coming later this month (the Atlas) things should improve even further.

2018 Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster Review

PZM 73rd Rally Poland Kicks Off

The WRC is in Poland and after only one stage there are three Volkswagens in the top five. Today’s special stage at the Mikolajki Arena is the first stage, but the rally doesn’t begin in earnest until Friday. Today’s super special stage was less than two minutes long, and less than a second separates the top five drivers. Hyundai Motorsport’s Thierry Neuville tops the charts today, followed closely by Volkswagen’s Andreas Mikkelsen. Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala are in fourth and fifth, respectively. Expect Ogier to climb the rankings, though. Not only did he win the rally last year, he has won every year since 2013.
