New Porsche 911 GT3 R Looks Bad Ass in Bare Carbon

The revamped Porsche 911 GT3 R has been shown for the first time today, giving us a good look at Porsche’s new customer racecar for the 2019 season.

Expectedly, this new GT3-spec racecar is an evolution of the current 911 GT3 R that customer teams are currently racing all over the world. It has received revised aerodynamics, which helped to increase front downforce, along with some new lightweight parts in the way of a carbon fiber hood, carbon wheel arches and carbon doors. The front suspension is now of the double-wishbone sort and a more robust braking system has been applied as well.

The list goes on with a fixed-position seat (darn racing drivers always running Porsche’s perfect weight balance!), an air conditioning system and new safety features. The 4.0-liter flat-six engine remains unchanged, producing a maximum output of 550 hp depending on the FIA’s Balance of Performance restrictions. It’s paired with a race-spec six-speed sequential transmission.

Race teams will have to fork over roughly $546,000 USD to get the new GT3 R in their shop – not including taxes. Porsche says the order books are open now, with test days scheduled for the car later this year. It was also recently spotted testing at Monza along with a mysterious new GT2-based track car that we think could be the new 911 GT3 Cup car for Porsche’s various one-make racing series.

Audi Teases A7 Details with New Video

Audi’s gearing up to unveil the latest iteration of the A7, and to get you excited they’ve released this teaser video focusing on the details. The lights, the lines, the interior are all teased here, and though on its own the video doesn’t give us a strong sense of what the whole car will look like, with all of the other details we’ve seen so far we now have a pretty good sense of what’s coming. As you might expect, the updated A7 will look broadly similar to the outgoing A7, but will differ in the details. Based on what we’ve seen, the changes look good. As was reported yesterday, we’re expecting a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine, a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo, a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, and an RS7 that could reportedly make up to 700 hp thanks to the Porsche Panamera’s hybrid drivetrain.
