Volkswagen has issued a directive forbidding its employees from playing Pokemon Go.
The automaker released a memo on August 9th to its 70 000 employees prohibiting them from playing the game at work or on Volkswagen premises. VW also told employees they weren’t allowed to download the app on their work devices such as smart phones or tablets. The directive also banned employees from taking photos of VW facilities that were not work-related.
VW said there were several risks involved in playing Pokemon Go, including privacy concerns about the game’s Geo-Tracking function and the possibility that company information or data could have its security compromised by use of the app. It also warned about the physical danger of playing the game while at work with higher risk of accidents due to distraction.
