The Volkswagen Tiguan LWB will offer seating for seven thanks to a third row and was previously referred to as the Volkswagen Tiguan XL. Originally expected to be offered exclusively for the Chinese market, the Tiguan LWB will be heading to North America as the German automaker looks to strengthen its crossover and SUV lineup. It will reportedly measure 185 inches in length, 72.4 inches in width and 64.3 inches in height while riding on a 109.9-inch wheelbase. Expect it to come powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Considering Volkswagen is testing the Tiguan LWB with no camouflage in Europe near its research facility at the Nurburgring, we should see a debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in late September. It is scheduled to enter production in the first quarter of 2017 and the units bound for North America will likely be produced at the automaker’s plant in Mexico.
