Watch Three GTIs Prepare for Wörthersee

With a very special Wöthersee fast approaching, Volkswagen is looking to make their largest enthusiast’s event extra special.

To prepare for the show’s 35^th anniversary and the GTI’s 40^th, VW has selected GTI builders who they say will “reconceive the event.” In a recent video released by the Wolfsburgers we are introduced to these builders and their beautiful creations.

The video revolves around three men and their Golfs as they prepare for Wörthersee. The cars are in various states of readiness. A heavily modified, orange Mk1 looks show ready, while a white Mk1 has its engine installed during the video.

It’s beautifully shot and deliberately paced—the style brings Petrolicious to mind—giving these builders time to share what it is they love so much about their classic GTIs.

If you weren’t already counting down the days until May, you will be after watching this video.

PZM 73rd Rally Poland Kicks Off

The WRC is in Poland and after only one stage there are three Volkswagens in the top five. Today’s special stage at the Mikolajki Arena is the first stage, but the rally doesn’t begin in earnest until Friday. Today’s super special stage was less than two minutes long, and less than a second separates the top five drivers. Hyundai Motorsport’s Thierry Neuville tops the charts today, followed closely by Volkswagen’s Andreas Mikkelsen. Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala are in fourth and fifth, respectively. Expect Ogier to climb the rankings, though. Not only did he win the rally last year, he has won every year since 2013.
