Volkswagen of America today posted its sales results for the month of May and the news is good. Sales have increased by nearly 5% over last year’s numbers. As a result, the US branch of VW has sold nearly 7% more vehicles this year than it did up to this point last year.
The month was a strong one for the Golf, which sold 26% better in May 2017 than as compared to the previous year. The whole Golf family, meanwhile, fared even better, thanks to rocketing sales from the SportWagen. Sales across the Golf family increased by 61%, to more than 7,000 in all.
The Jetta family, also performed well, with sales increasing by more than 5% in May. Sales of the Beetle, too, rose in May to 1,829, which is 55% more than a year ago.
The Atlas also started sales, and we can now report than 1,600 of the big SUVs have sold. Since this was their first month of sales ever, we have nothing to compare that figure against, though.
With the summer season fast approaching, VW can be optimistic for the near future.
