Tanner Foust Moves Into First Place in Global Rallycross

A tough weekend for Scott Speed meant that his teammate, Tanner Foust, managed to move into first place after this weekend’s Canadian round of the Red Bull Global Rallycross season.

Speed’s Beetle GRC needed an engine swap before the first race on Saturday, keeping him out of that race and depriving him of 50 precious points. Despite that, he was back in action on Sunday for the second race of the weekend and finished second after a last lap pass.

“This wasn’t an easy weekend for my side of the garage, but we made a good recovery on Sunday to get back up on the podium,” said Speed. “It seems like we’ve been the king of last-lap passes this season, which is a super exciting way to race, but I’m hoping for a normal event where we can lead from the front next time out. We lost a big bunch of points from the lead we had coming into Ottawa, but I know we’ll get back on it and keep our comeback going strong.”

For Foust, meanwhile, the weekend was much better. After finishing in second place on Saturday, he went on to lead Sunday’s race from start to finish.

With that, Foust takes over as the leader in the drivers’ standings for the first time this season.

“This a great spot for us to be at the season’s halfway mark,” said Foust. “There are still plenty of races to go, but we’ve got the cars, crew, and drivers to get it done, so I’m looking forward to a strong second half of the season.”

Foust narrowly missed out on winning the drivers’ championship last season, with Speed, instead, winning his second championship in a row.

Not only did Speed (381 pts) lose a spot to Foust (418 pts), he dropped down to third place, behind Steve Arpin (391 pts), in a Ford.

Scott Speed will look to reel in Arpin and Foust in three weeks when GRC heads to Indianapolis for the next round of the championship.

T-Prime Makes World Premiere at Beijing

With the new T-Prime Concept GTE that was revealed today, the company is showing off all of the technology you can look for in its coming models. The T-Prime is a full-size hybrid SUV that can go up to 31 miles on a charge and gets 87 mpg. The hybrid power station is good for 375 hp and 516 lb/ft of torque and puts the power down with 4MOTION all wheel drive. It’ll get you up to 60 in six seconds. The concept’s real party piece, though, is its interior, which features exclusively touch, gesture, and voice controls. Audi Teases the e-tron’s Headlights Ahead of LA Reveal

Audi will unveil its new electric car, the e-tron GT, in just a few short days, but until then, it will do what manufacturers can’t help but do and will tease it mercilessly. The latest teaser images first appeared on Germany’s Bild , and feature some of the EV’s lighting. While the taillights look reasonably familiar, albeit on an interesting, angular surface, the headlights feature a heretofore unseen light shape.
