The coming Touareg has been testing for some time now, but thanks to new spy shots we can finally see it in–nearly–all its glory. The handsome SUV was spied testing with only a few bits of camo.
The main areas of camo coverage are the lights, with the head and taillights covered to hide their finer detail. If you look around back, though, you can see taillights that follow from the belt line and dive down at the rear. The head lights, meanwhile, appear to fall in line with current VW design.
The third gen Touareg is built on the MLB platform, which it shares with the Audi Q7. As with that big SUV, there’s been a focus on weight loss in the new generation, with an intelligent use of materials employed to help improve fuel economy and performance.
We expect to see a V6 gas engine and a plug-in hybrid variant to come when this new Touareg arrives later this year.
