VW Brand Chief to Become VW Group CEO

Volkswagen’s management structure is set for some changes in the name of efficiency according to a new report from Reuters.

The report alleges that the VW brand’s CEO, Herbert Diess, will replace Matthias Mueller as the CEO of the larger Volkswagen Group.

Mueller was promoted from his role as the CEO of Porsche following the Dieselgate crisis and has steered the ship out of stormy waters now that both profits and sales are on the rise again. Volkswagen has previously said, though, that Mueller would be willing to participate in efforts to reorganize the management structure.

Diess, meanwhile, came to VW from BMW at the same time. There, he had been involved in developing electric cars and, in his time at VW has been involved in developing more EVs, as well as no small number of SUVs.

It’s unclear where Mueller will land in the shakeup, nor who would take over from Diess at the VW brand, but the Group has made a big deal of increasing transparency among the leadership and moving away from the days when Ferdinand Piech ruled with an iron fist.

Project SportWagen: Going Stage 2 with APR

Event Report: Southern Worthersee 2015

There’s been much ado about this year’s SoWo since this past Saturday night, when Instagram, Facebook and other Social Media channels exploded with images and commentary focusing on the event’s bad eggs.  But first, let’s chat a bit about the event itself. Our journey started early Thursday morning as part of the Orchid Euro/Coolwater cruise to the event.  What should have taken about 12-13 hours ended up taking much more, as we stopped to help any Volkswagen that needed our assistance.  And while the extended commute time wasn’t ideal, it proved to highlight the ‘no person left behind’ spirit of the Volkswagen community- arguably one of the scene’s best qualities.
