To say that we have big expectations for the Aventador SV Jota would be to put it mildly. After the Huracan Performante bruised Porsche’s ego in the ‘Ring, we’re expecting big things and small lap times from its big, firebreathing, V12 sister.
With bigger side intakes and bigger aprons front and rear than on the Aventador S, this test car is clearly more serious about track work.
Lamborghini is also expected to give the V12 a little more power. The Centenario makes 770 hp with the same V12, but rumor is that Lambo could run the power all the way up to 800 hp for duty here, thanks to its ISR single-clutch transmission.
But the big reason (allegedly) that the Huracan Performante was able to so overperform was its active aerodynamics package. Although there’s no solid evidence of such a system in these spy pictures, the name that Lamborghini chose does at least indicate that they have every ambition of making this Aventador a serious performer.
The Jota name, as we’ve covered, comes from the Miura Jota, which was more racecar than streetcar, and the Aventador ushered in Lamborghini’s current focus on making track cars, rather than armrests for club kids to pose against.
