That ’70s Bus Headed to Auction

That sweet ride from That 70s Show is coming up for auction next month. No, not the Foremans’ Vista Cruiser. No, not Red’s Corolla. Not even Kelso’s Dodge van. But this one might actually be the coolest of them all.

It’s Ashton Kutcher’s character Kelso’s Volkswagen Microbus. The one he used since he won it in a contest in season four until (spoiler alert, I guess?) it drove off of a cliff in season six.

But even without the TV connection, this is a sweet van. It’s a 21-window van. And while it has sold at auction before, for just $28,000, that was in the days before VW van values started rising faster than air-cooled Porsches. A 21-window van sold last year for over $300,000, and a few more have gone well into the six figures. This could set a new van record at Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach auction on April 14th.

This one has a copy of the title in show co-creator Mark Brazill’s name and has been recently serviced. It has a 1600cc flat-four and a four-speed manual.

I’ve never really been one for SUVs and crossovers. The current offerings aren’t the body-on-frame, go-anywhere specialty tools I remember from my youth, and what they lack in capability, they also lack in on-road performance.
