Sales were down 1.6% percent last month for Volkswagen USA, as compared to November 2016. The drop is an anomaly in what has been a positive year for the automaker but comes as a result of sales drops for every returning model.
Everything from the Jetta (-18%), to the Golf family (-34%), to the Touareg (-42%) took a sales hit last months. Only sales of the new Tiguan and Atlas, which weren’t around at this time last year, buoyed the brand.
Each saw sales numbers of more than 5,000 units, though, which marks a significant leap from last month’s totals of 3,800 (Tiguan) and 3,600 (Atlas).
Fortunately for VW, the year has been strong all the same and the brand has sold more than 280,000 vehicles so far this year. That’s up nearly 10% from last year.
With a new Jetta on its way and the Arteon to follow, VW will be looking to keep sales growing with more new models.
