Yet More Evidence that the Aventador Successor will Get an N/A V12

Following Lamborghini development boss Maurizio Reggiani’s comments a few weeks ago that naturally aspirated V10s and V12s would continue to power Lamborghinis of the future, another exec has come out with promising comments.

This time, the comments come from the brand’s chief commercial officer, Frederico Foschini. Speaking to CarAdvice he said that the follow-up to Lamborghini’s flagship supercar, the Aventador, would also be powered by a thundering V12.

“I don’t want Aventador to die, honestly. I love it,” Foschini told CarAdvice. “The time will have to come – let’s say it will be soon, but not too soon – and there are still a few more surprises to come with Aventador. But I can’t tell you any more or someone will kill me.”

Foschini’s comments also reveal that Lamborghini is planning on some more special editions. Just last week, the brand celebrated 50 years in Japan with the Aventador S Roadster 50th Anniversary Japan. Rumors and spy pictures also hint at a powerful new trim, similar to the Huracan Performante.

The bad news in all of this is that Foschini admitted that turbocharging may yet aid the supercars’ breathing.

“In the future, you never say never about turbo, but I think in the next years we are staying with this technology, and with the V12,” said Foschini. “This is the engine that we are not going to change in the next generation.”

For the near future, at least, you’ll be able to celebrate naturally aspirated, ludicrously cylindered engines.

Waterfest Moves to Atco Dragway

Waterfest 24 will be held at Atco Dragway, in Atco, New Jersey. The summer event will take place at its new venue on July 21 and 22. Long held in Englishtown, New Jersey, the festival has been such a large part of the VW scene that the latest iteration of the Golf even comes with optional “Englishtown” wheels . The new venue, however, is an NHRA drag track a scant 52 miles southwest of Englishtown. The ¼ mile drag track opened in 1960, which makes it the oldest drag strip in New Jersey. The announcement came today on a social media post that announced the new location. Waterfest is North America’s largest VW/Audi show. As many 20,000 people show up for the annual show, making the second largest show in the world—with Worthersee being number one. 2018 will be Waterfest’s 24 th year in existence.
