It’s a tale as old as time. Or as old as trucks, anyway. If you’ve got two trucks, you need to tie them together and see who can pull the hardest.
The key to winning a tug of war isn’t power. Or traction. After all, the SQ7 TDI’s 4.0L diesel with 429 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque makes tons of grunt. And quattro all-wheel drive gives loads of traction. The key to tug of war is avoiding wheel spin or slip.
Spin the tires, and you’re easy to drag. Even against a second-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, which has either a 3.1L or 2.7L diesel that makes between 140 and 163 hp and 271-295 lb-ft of torque.
Early in this video, the driver of the SQ7 hasn’t quite figured that part out. But will they? Or will the Audi go down in shame to a lowly Grand Cherokee? There’s only one way to find out. Give it a watch.
