For just €198,000 (or about $230,000) you can get yourself behind the wheel of Audi’s latest race car, the R8 LMS GT4.
Designed as a toned down version of the R8 LMS GT3, the GT4 is a race car for normal, pretty rich mortals.
Like other R8 race cars, the GT4 shares a lot in common with its road-going sister, like the majestic naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 that develops 495 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque for duty here. Unlike the road car, though (unless you’re hoping to buy an RWS), that power is sent to the rear wheels alone through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Like the RWS, it sheds a few pounds thanks to its drivetrain simplification. Unlike the RWS, it does away with any luxuries bringing the weight down to 3,200 lbs, which is about 400 lbs less than the standard R8.
All of that means a sub-4 second 0-60 time, a top speed of more than 150 mph, and some presumably blistering lap times.
Deliveries are expected to begin in December.
