A fast MK 1 Golf is nothing new. But one as extreme as this sure is. It’s a 2.0L turbocharged 16V that has a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system stuffed under the classic bodywork.
The car, tuned and modified by Boba Motoring, makes over 1,000 hp. This was the car’s first run, so it was taken down a notch. To a much more reasonable 940 hp.
So what can an all-wheel-drive, 940 hp Golf do in the half mile? 191 miles per hour, that’s what. You can see the impressive time sheet for yourself at the end of the video, but the car ran the half in under 18 seconds.
It doesn’t launch hard, but the Golf takes off once the driver picks second and 60-124 mph is dealt with in just 3.3 seconds. Take a watch for yourself of what the video calls the fastest four-cylinder in Germany.
It was slated to make a second run at full-power. Until some rain spoiled the day.
