GTI fans from around the UK and Europe will be meeting this weekend in Shakespeare’s home town of Stratford-upon-Avon to celebrate the Golf GTI. Over the course of the weekend, they will line up their cars in an attempt to make a giant GTI logo.
The logo will include more than 200 GTIs celebrating the car’s 40th anniversary. Among them will be at least one of every generation GTI, as well as what is believed to be the oldest right-hand-drive GTI in existence.
Owners will also have the chance to race their cars at the Shakespeare County Raceway drag strip. The ¼ mile races will be run by an expert team of marshals with professional timing equipment.
And finally, of course, there will be a show and shine full of show quality and modified Volkswagens.
More than 40 Volkswagen clubs and a number of traders and exhibitors, selling aftermarket parts.
The fun starts on July 9. Find out more at gtiinternational.co.uk
