Golf Wins AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award for Third Time in a Row

AutoPacific has given the Volkswagen Golf a 2016 Ideal Vehicle Award. This is the third year in a row that the Golf has won in the compact car segment, and the fifth time in the last seven years that it has won the award.

The award is handed out based on a survey of over 65,000 new car owners in the US. The Golf competed against 18 compacts in 15 categories, including ride and handling, interior storage, safety, comfort, and more.

“We’re honored to hear that the Volkswagen Golf has earned [the] AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award […] and that our buyers are so satisfied,” says Vinay Shahani, VP, Marketing, Volkswagen of America. “The seventh-generation Golf is the best iteration of a nameplate that’s been in the US for 42 years, now with a stellar combination of versatility, safety features, and innovative App-Connect smartphone integrations.”

I’ve never really been one for SUVs and crossovers. The current offerings aren’t the body-on-frame, go-anywhere specialty tools I remember from my youth, and what they lack in capability, they also lack in on-road performance.
