Apparently if you own a school bus, it’s only a matter of time before you glue a Microbus to the top of it. Who knew? But one Edmonton, Alberta man has taken things to a whole new level by putting Westfalia on top of his school bus, technically making it a three story bus, thanks to the pop up tent on top.
Paul Caspers, a plumber in the Albertan capital, says tells the Canadian Broadcast Corporation that he wanted to make his short bus more spacious and so lit upon the idea of attaching a 1973 Westfalia to its roof.
“As soon as I thought of the idea, I never thought of not doing it,” Caspers tells the Edmonton Sun. “I just had to do it.”
The bus now sleeps more than 12 people and comes with an outdoor shower, perfect for hitting music festivals, as Caspers is hoping to do this month.
Unfortunately, (or forunately, if you live in Edmonton) no mechanic would safety the bus when Caspers spoke to the press. “Most mechanics see this and they’re kind of, like, ughhh,” he explains. “They’re just kind of unsure… they don’t want to do it.” Shocking.
On the plus side, now we know Casper the Friendly ghost’s origin story.
