Volkswagen Group Earns 6 Auto Express New Car of the Year Awards

Nearly a quarter of all the New Car of the Year Awards presented by the UK’s Auto Express this year were won by Volkswagen vehicles. That’s six of the 26 categories in which vehicles were considered for an of-the-Year award and more commended by the magazine.

The SEAT Ateca (Crossover of the Year), the Skoda Superb (Estate Car…), the Skoda Citigo (City Car), the Audi TT (Coupe), and the Volkswagen Transporter (Van) and Polo (Super Mini) were the cars that Auto Express chose as the best in their class.

The awards for the group are based largely on the value and the build quality, and in their explanations, Auto Express are effusive about the all-round excellence of the Group’s cars.

More 3.0-Liter TDI Settlement Details Expected by January 31

Volkswagen and the TDI Plaintiff’s Steering Committee were in court today for another status conference following the agreement in principal reached earlier this week. Little new information was given at the conference held before Judge Charles Breyer today, but the court ordered the parties to develop a formal settlement agreement, class action notices, and a class notice plan by January 31, 2017. For now, though, owners still don’t know how much to expect in compensation. Elizabeth Cabraser, lead Counsel for the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee reaffirmed in a statement today that the compensation would be “substantial.” The potential cost to Volkswagen is widely reported to exceed $1 billion, though, with an additional $225 million going into an environmental trust to help offset excess emissions.
