Volkswagen Launches Special Edition Polo to Commemorate 40th Anniversary

After 40 years and more than 14 million vehicles sold, the Volkswagen Polo will get a limited edition: Starting today, fans can purchase one of only 1,000 Polo “Original” special editions in Germany.

Unique identifiers of the 4-door Polo “Original” include the exterior mirror caps finished in body color, tinted taillights, Polo “Original” emblems on the fenders and unique script on the door sills. LED headlights, a high-gloss Black grille and 16-inch alloy “Portago” wheels complete the modern exterior. For those after something a bit more unique, some vehicles are also available in exclusive Honey Orange Metallic paintwork.

Making the cabin feel more upmarket, a multifunction steering wheel, gear lever knob and handbrake grip insert all finished in  leather have been fitted. To pay tribute to the Ur-Polo, the special model’s sport seats have plaid pattern inserts and faux leather side bolsters and headrests.

“Climatronic” climate control, Bluetooth and multimedia socket MEDIA-IN will all come as standard on the modeling addition to the “Front Assist” with City Emergency Braking safety system, reducing or even eliminating the possibility of collision. All examples will also come with a rear view camera, to assist with parking.

The Polo “Original” is available in six engine-gearbox variations, starting at 19.950, – EUR. In addition to the exclusivity of this anniversary model, it offers a discount of 1,119 euros compared to a comparably equipped standard model.
