Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo North America stormed into Virginia International Raceway this past weekend, with the Lamborghini Beverly Hills/O’Gara Motorsport-backed Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo of Richard Antinucci and Edoardo Piscopo capturing victory at Round 6 of the North American championship. The next round of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America competition takes place in Austin, TX on WEC Weekend at Circuit of the Americas.

DANVILLE, Va. – Richard Antinucci and Edoardo Piscopo ran away from the field to capture their second Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America victory of the weekend, winning Round 6 Sunday, Aug. 23 at VIRginia International Raceway.
Antinucci and Piscopo took the checkered flag under caution in the No. 50 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo representing Lamborghini Beverly Hills and fielded by O’Gara Motorsport.
“Another great race, a great win,” Antinucci said. “(Piscopo) brings a little bit of luck and a lot of ability. He teaches me a lot, and we complement each other really well. Ultimately he’s capable of being faster than everyone else out there and then hands me a car with some of the freshest tires in the field.”
Local team Change Racing rounded out the top-three finishers on the 17-turn, 3.27-mile circuit with Justin Marks finishing second in the No. 99 Lamborghini and Corey Lewis finishing third in the No. 29 Lamborghini. Lewis was also the top Pro-Am finisher.
Ryan Ockey finished fourth overall in the No. 89 O’Gara Motorsport entry fielded by Lamborghini Vancouver. He was the top Huracán Amateur finisher, followed by his brother, Damon Ockey, in the No. 09 Huracán representing Lamborghini Calgary placing fifth overall and second in the Amateur division.
Piscopo led the field from pole for the third time this weekend. As battles for position happened behind him, reigning Super Trofeo Europe and World Final Champion Piscopo quickly pulled away. He built a 13.326-second lead over the next 20 minutes.
When the mandatory pit stop window opened, Piscopo handed the car to Antinucci, who continued to keep the pace. Antinucci built a gap of 27.624 seconds under green-flag racing.
With just over three minutes to go, the first caution of the race was triggered by the No. 71 of Josh Norman making contact with the tire barrier in Turn 5. The race ended under caution, ensuring the third victory of the season for Antinucci and second for Piscopo.
“It was a great weekend,” Piscopo said. “I made a mistake yesterday, and I made up for it today. I’m still learning. But today we had an even better car. We continue to improve every time we go out there.”
Antinucci extended his Pro Championship driver points lead to 84-60 over second-place Kevin Conway and Enrique Bernoldi. Piscopo is third with 50 points despite missing the first two races of the season.
Aaron Povoledo and Joe Courtney finished sixth overall and second in the Pro-Am division in the No. 77 Musante-Courtney Racing entry fielded by Lamborghini Miami. Series rookie Jeffrey Chang and Matt Halliday rounded out the Pro-Am podium in the No. 88 GMG Racing Lamborghini representing Newport Beach.
The father-son team of Jim and Josh Norman picked up a third-place Amateur finish in the No. 71 BAD Lambo Racing entry fielded by Lamborghini Palm Beach.
Reigning team champions Mitchum Motorsports swept the Gallardo podiums. Gallardo points leader Dylan Murcott earned his third overall winning Gallardo finish of the season in the No. 84 Mitchum Motorsports Gallardo LP 570-4. His teammates Bryan Hixon and Brandon Gdovic joined him on the podium, finishing second and third, respectively.
Hixon was the top Gallardo Amateur finisher in the No. 23 Gallardo representing Lamborghini Chicago. Gdovic was the second Amateur finisher in the No. 46 Palm Beach Gallardo. Todd Snyder rounded out the podium with a third-place finish in the No. 42 Mitchum Motorsports entry.
The next Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America event will be Sept. 16-18 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, for Rounds 7 and 8 of the championship.
Highlights from all three rounds at VIR will be televised from 8-9 p.m. (ET) Wednesday, Sept. 9 on CBS Sports Network.
The three rounds at VIRginia International Raceway kicked off a busy month for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship worldwide, which continues to reach new levels of success at every round in Europe, North America and Asia. Super Trofeo Asia will compete Sept. 5-6 at Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia, and Super Trofeo Europe will complete its next two rounds Sept. 18-20 at Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit in Germany, alongside the Blancpain Endurance Series.
Lamborghini and Blancpain provided world-class hospitality this weekend for clients and guests of Lamborghini dealers.

JUSTIN MARKS (No. 99 Lamborghini Carolinas, second): “Today was good. It was a pretty uneventful race. I just tried to execute on every lap. Sometimes in these races you just want no drama. Eddie Littlefield, Lamborghini Carolinas and everyone from Change Racing did a fantastic job. I made it hard for them after the incident yesterday morning, but they rebounded and gave me a great car. It’s awesome to be on the podium with my teammate.”
COREY LEWIS (No. 29 Lamborghini Carolinas, third, first Pro-Am): “I’m actually really glad the weekend is over. The driving duties this weekend have been through the roof. But the weekend has been amazing all the way through. Change Racing, Lamborghini Carolinas, Monster Energy Drink all gave me a great car to go from the back to the front anytime I needed to. The car was near perfect the whole way through. It’s really good for the points, the championship and Change Racing and Lamborghini Carolinas. It’s their hometown track here at VIR, and it’s a great showing for everyone here.”
JOE COURTNEY (No. 77 Lamborghini Miami, sixth, second Pro-Am): “We struggled a little bit this weekend. I had a couple of stupid mistakes earlier this weekend, and we never recovered from that. The crew did a fantastic job putting the car back together, and today we just put it out there and did it for them. It was great to get back on podium.”
AARON POVOLEDO (No. 77 Lamborghini Miami, sixth, second Pro-Am): “The biggest difference today was that we just finally had a clean race today. We got in trouble with some pit stop penalties yesterday. But we’ve a good car, a fast car all weekend long. Today Joe (Courtney) drove a really great stint and handed me a car with a decent gap to the cars behind us. The pit stop was flawless, and it was just a matter of me getting in and getting into a groove and driving the car. Love driving the Huracán around this track.”
JEFFREY CHENG (No. 88 Lamborghini Newport Beach, seventh, third Pro-Am): “Today was a double-edged sword. It was my best day, and it was my worst day. I actually put down my best times today. Significantly faster than the previous two races, and I was able to pass a number of cars and actually put us up into P2 in class. And then my worst day happened because I spun. I went off into the grass and enjoyed the countryside for about 20 to 25 seconds and subsequently got passed. But I was able to get going and hand the car off to my teammate, who did an awesome job.”
MATT HALLIDAY (No. 88 Lamborghini Newport Beach, seventh, third Pro-Am): “We did the maximum. Without a safety car for the Pro-Am, it makes it rather difficult because the gap is quite large. We need a safety car when the Am drivers start because it closes the gap up and you almost start from scratch, which helped us yesterday. Today we just worked really, really hard to get third in class. Three races, three podiums, new team to the series, new teammate, new car. I wasn’t even here on Thursday. Never been on the track. Lot of new things. We improved a lot through the weekend, and I am really, really happy for all the guys at GMG, and Jeffrey did a great job, as well.”
RYAN OCKEY (No. 89 Lamborghini Vancouver, fourth, first Amateur): “The car was really hooked up well, and we had beautiful temperatures for the track. Just seemed to have the line today. I was a second and a bit quicker than yesterday. I don’t know. I just like Sunday mornings, I guess. Having this much time in the car on this track was just fantastic to learn all the subtleties, and I just had a fun, fun time. I’m grinning!”
DAMON OCKEY (No. 09 Lamborghini Calgary, fifth, second Amateur): “I was in front at first, and then we had little timing issue during the pit stop and Ryan (Ockey) got ahead of me in the pit stop. I was right on him for about four to five laps, and we got into some traffic and the traffic held me up more than him. He got a good gap, and I could never close it up. But overall it’s been great. I got a third, second and first, so all the colors!”
DYLAN MURCOTT (No. 84 Lamborghini Gallardo, eighth, first Gallardo): “It’s been a crazy fight all weekend. Today the start was critical. On the start, I passed about six cars. I was really aggressive into Turn 1 and Turn 3, and that was basically the race. I was able to put a big gap over second place. I just maintained it and came away with a win.”
