Worthersee 2015 Photo Gallery: Day 1

The official show doesn’t begin for two more weeks, but our man abroad Si Gray is already on the ground in Austria.  And with the more die-hard enthusiasts making a month out of the event, Si is already an extremely busy man.  Late last night he sent over his first batch of event photos, and from what we see, this year’s Wörthersee might just be the best yet.

Si has reported that early attendance is much higher than in previous years, with an increase in both Volkswagen and Volkswagen Group vehicles being seen around town.  We’ve also heard that fans have come from as far away as Poland (roughly 2000km) to see the event for themselves.  Aside from that, Si also took the opportunity to get a replacement windshield and was stared at by a toddler.  In all, it was a successful day.

Project SportWagen: Going Stage 2 with APR

The 10 Most Expensive VWs at Barrett-Jackson

Barrett-Jackson just wrapped up its 46th annual Scottsdale auction, which set all kinds of records, including the sale of Kindig-It Design’s 1965 21-Window Deluxe Bus for $302,500 (pictured above and below). Not only did that bus set an auction record, it was the highest priced Volkswagen in Scottsdale that week. While it outdid the next closest VW by quite a margin, it wasn’t the only high priced VW at the show. Here, are the highest priced VWs from the auction: 1. $302,500: 1965 Type II 21-Window Deluxe Bus  Featured on Velocity Channel’s Bitchin’ Rides, this microbus was completely restored by Kindig-it Design and repainted in Mercedes Black and Bentley Magnolia White.
