We all knew it would happen, it was just a matter of when. Our spies at CarPix have sent over the first batch of Golf R 400 spy pictures, and while the car doesn’t look all that much different from its ‘lesser’ counterpart, this one is more about what your not seeing.
On the outside changes are quite minor, just subtly flared arches at all corners, a larger rear wing, different wheels and an upgraded front oil cooler. In total, it doesn’t look much different that the Mk7 Golf R we’ve currently got in our parking lot, which really isn’t a bad thing.
Underneath the skin, the Golf R400 will have a revised 2.0T producing 400 or more horsepower, as well as the braking and suspension upgrades necessitated by the power bump. The interior will see a host of changes as well, most specifically the addition of more aggressive seats and R 400 badging throughout.
We’ll keep you posted with any developments as we get them. Until then, check out more shots of the car below.
